Emigration
To emigrate, that sounds so serious. That’s not what I’m doing, only Dutch farmers do that when they can’t survive in Holland anymore. They move with all their stuff to the Canadian country to never return again. They ship all their oak furniture and ‘boerenbont’ pottery and long for ‘drop’ (Dutch candy) and ‘Boerenkool’ (Dutch dish) for the rest of their lives.
And yet, emigrating is what I’m doing. I have applied for a perminent residency at the Canadian embassy. They’ve let me know I’m officially registered and gave me a number. I can check on internet how my application is doing. The whole process will take a year, I don’t know why. In the meantime I will visit Canada as a tourist, I will check it out to see if I like everything. I’m affraid I will like it, that will be due to the nice Canadian guy I will be living with. Fortunately he knows where I can buy drop and he likes Boerenkool (with sausage).

Hi Linda
Wish you a good trip and look forward to seeing you &
Mike again. I’m sure your Mom isn’t too happy about you leaving. Just think if we hadn’t sent Sheri to Holland in 1994 non of this would have happened .I
hope she doesn’t hold it against us.
