Weekend at the cabin
Friday night we went to the cabin of Mike’s parents. I love it up there, the view of the lake is gorgeous and it is very relaxing. Although… Mike and I went for a little walk earlier where we ran into a some deer, that was very special.

Later I went for a walk by myself, Mike didn’t like it very much, you can always run into a bear and when they have cubs they can be very aggressive. Armed with a hand held radio I went for my walk. After 5 minutes leaving the property I hear a grunt and see a black bear climb in a tree right in front of me at 5 meters distance! I look to my right and there is a second bear looking at me. Let’s get away! Slowly I take a few steps back and I think: they are as scared for you as you are for them! Then I turn around and walk quickly back to the cabin, turning around to check if they aren’t following me. It is really great to see a bear from up close, but so scary, they are so big and strong. I think they were young bears, one year old siblings that are looking for their own territories. I didn’t take a picture, that didn’t seem like a wise thing to do. I didn’t sleep very well that night and I only dreamed about bears.
Sunday we took the canoe out for a peddle.

My new hobby is bird watching, hence the big binoculars. Spotted birds of today are: Common loon, hummingbird, Northern flicker, red-naped sapsucker and American robin.
