Lots of singing on my birthday
I was volunteering all day at the Wildlife Rescue Association and at noon my friend Claire called me to wish me a happy birhtday. It was 9:00pm in Holland and she was having a party of her own because it will be her birthday soon. Claire, Lisette, Carolien and Richard sang for me, the first time today. I got to talk to everyone and that created strange looks from the people at WRA. “How do you understand each other?” was asked. Richard gave me some very good news. He is my representative for my immigration process in Holland and he received mail from the embassy just a few days ago. The letter said that I have to send my passport to the embassy and this is the final step in the process! Officially they are not saying I will get my permanent residency for sure, but I’m pretty confident that this is it. They only have to stamp my passport and I’m in.
Not long after that I had to go to the administration building. I was just working on a seagull that was brought in and I thought I had to examine it first and give it some medication. After someone else came to me with another excuse I finally went. Inside, the whole table was filled with sushi and around the corner Mike appeared. He got sushi for everybody and a cake so we had a festive lunch.

The cake came with a birthday song
Afterwards I had to rush to the theatre because we had a show to do. I invited some people to see the show and it was nice to see all the familiar faces in the audience.

Lisa and Karen brought me flowers.
Afterwards we went for beers and nacho’s at the ‘Wolf and Hound’, a nice Irish pub.

Proost!

Mike brought another cake and candles so I got another birthday song!
As you can see I’m a little unsure when to blow out the candles….
WHen we arrived home I found a message on the answering machine, this time it was Claire Tetje and she sang me another Dutch birthday song. The perfect ending of a wonderful day.
