Linda's Canadian Adventure

Driving

After 3 months of being a Permanent Resident I had to officially get my Canadian Driver’s License. Sounds funny because I’ve been driving here for two years with my international license. But this is the rule. I took two lessons to make sure, I can drive, but driving for a test is different! I got into Dragos’ car and after 10 seconds I violated 10 rules. The problems were the shoulder checks and I drive a bit too assertively (Canadian drivers are very polite so it is easy to take advantage of that). Dragos is an immigrant just like me, he’s from Romania.

First I had to pass a written exam, that was easy and I only made 1 mistake. The driving test went fine, Dragos did a good job. I had to park in reverse, 3-point-turn, freeway and changing lanes on a busy road. So now I have a Canadian license, another thing checked off.

The Netherlands – Italy: 3-0!!! Monday is my day off so Mike and I could watch the game. Great game, lots of discussion about the first goal of course. I’m glad we didn’t decide to watch it in an Italian pub, we might not have made it out alive!
