Linda's Canadian Adventure

Back in Canada

Just back for a week but I haven’t been sitting still. I arrived Thursday night without any problems. I took it easy on Friday to get over the jet lag. On Saturday we had another hike planned. Mike, James and I hiked to the Lions, a trip of 18 km with 1300 meter elevation gain. I could still feel my calfves after two days!

Sunday I went to the theatre to volunteer. Another play by United Players has just opened and I’m an assistant Stage Manager on a couple of shows. I have to make sure all props are in place and fill the whisky bottles with cold tea etc. The play is ‘Lady Windermere’s Fan’ by Oscar Wilde. For the next play I’ll be the Stage Manager and rehearsals will start soon. It will be ‘A moon for the misbegotten’ by Eugene O’Neill.

It was such nice weather this week so we had to do another hike on Tuesday. We did Hollyburn Peak on Cypress Mountain.

I started volunteering more hours at the Wildlife Rescue Association this week. They are short on staff so they’ve asked me to come in for more hours. Not only cleaning cages and preparing food, but also examination and treatment of animals. I worked two full days this week and I loved it. I learned and experienced so many new things, the people are really nice to work with and there is a great atmosphere.

Coming Sunday I will be participating in the ‘Great Canadian Shoreline Cleanup’ with the Sierra Club. All shorelines of Canada are being cleaned up by different groups. Some hands on work to clean up other people garbage in order to keep the beaches and ocean clean.
